Privacy Policy

ChatSensei ("ChatSensei," "we," "us," or "our") is a real-time conversation assistant that listens to spoken or typed phrases, translates the meaning, and suggests natural replies. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account data
- Email address (required to sign in)
- Display name (optional)
- Unique user identifier
- Authentication provider (email/password or Google)
Voice and audio
When you tap the record button, ChatSensei accesses your device's microphone to capture a short audio clip. Audio is streamed to our transcription provider, converted to text, and then discarded. We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers.
Conversation transcripts and content
Transcribed text, translations, suggested replies, the tone you choose, and the reply you select are stored in your account only if you have "Save conversations" enabled (or you don't use Private Mode for a given session). With Private Mode on, nothing about that conversation is written to our database.
Preferences and personalization
- UI language, source/target language, preferred tone
- Voice playback preferences (built-in vs. premium voice)
- Aggregated counters (e.g. how often you pick a given tone) used to personalize future suggestions
Subscription and payment data
Subscription status, plan, and billing identifiers are stored in your account. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
Diagnostics
We log basic errors and request metadata (status codes, timestamps) to keep the service running. We do not use third-party advertising analytics or cross-app tracking SDKs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide transcription, translation, and reply suggestions
- To save conversation history when you've enabled it
- To personalize tone and reply style over time
- To manage your account and subscription
- To detect abuse, debug errors, and improve reliability
3. Third-Party Processors
To deliver core features, ChatSensei sends limited data to the following processors:
- Lovable Cloud (Supabase) — authentication and encrypted database storage of your account and saved conversations.
- Lovable AI Gateway (Google, OpenAI models) — transcription, translation, and reply generation. Text sent for inference is not used to train the underlying models per provider policy.
- ElevenLabs — optional premium voice synthesis, only when "Use premium voice" is enabled.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid plans.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Microphone Access
Your device will ask permission before ChatSensei can use the microphone. Audio capture only starts when you explicitly tap the record button and stops when you tap stop (or after a short safety timeout). You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's system settings.
5. Data Retention
- Audio clips: discarded immediately after transcription.
- Saved conversations: retained until you delete them, disable history, or delete your account.
- Account data: retained while your account is active and for a short period after deletion for legal/operational reasons.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access / export: Settings → "Export my data" downloads a JSON copy of everything tied to your account.
- Delete conversations: Settings → Privacy & data → "Delete all saved conversations."
- Delete account: Settings → "Delete account" permanently removes your account and all associated data.
- Private Mode: turn on per-conversation or as default so nothing is saved.
7. Children
ChatSensei is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is gated by row-level security so only you can read your account's rows.
9. International Transfers
Our processors operate globally; your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We rely on standard contractual protections where applicable.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or via email.
